Tennis club celebrates double as U17s claim Division One title

Following the recent title triumph for the Lancaster U17 squad in the Division Two Fylde League, their counterparts in Division One made it an unprecedented double for the club after an emphatic 6-0 win at St Annes last Saturday evening.

A sizeable crowd travelled down the coast and saw their hosts defeated in the same manner as all other rivals in the division this summer.

Peter Nickson, Ellott Gardner, Tom Bowe and Dan Main completed the whitewash with all matches won in straight sets.

Team manager Alan Main said: “The lads can be proud of their achievements this season and can take pride in the manner they have conducted themselves on and off court.”

Elsewhere, the U14 team consolidated a promising fourth place in their league of seven teams after a 5-1 win away to Lytham.

lLancaster Tennis Club was blessed with fine weather for its summer open day on Sunday, July 17 which was held as part of the Great British Tennis Weekend.

Nearly 40 juniors and adults came to the club to try out the courts and see its recently refurbished facilities.
