Table Tennis: Superb Sinha takes top spot

The Junior Easter Ranking table tennis tournament was held at Morecambe CHS with the popular “banded” format at the weekend.

In Band One, the four top juniors took part with Abhinav Sinha finishing in first place to claim the prestigious number one position. Nathan Beamer had to defeat Matthew Cooke and Adam Ordenez to claim the number two place.

In Band Two, Hudson Nuttall had to be in his best form to win this group from local rising stars Bradley Wilkinson and Will Silverwood.

In Band Three, Dan Main completed a successful week with a 100 per cent record, following his part in winning the County Schools completion with Ripley School.

Daniel Handford, Lucas Pinnington and Alessandro Perfetto also competed in this tough group.

In Band Four, Alex Milligan the current County Schools Individual Champion, produced a fine performance to win this group from Matthew Westworth, Max Helme and James Main.

In Band Five, Elliott Bywater had come from behind to defeat Matthew Cross to secure the top position. With Tomas Nugent and Scott Wilding in third and fourth places.

In Band Six, Maddi Thompson fresh from the Nation Team Finals won the group undefeated with Ethan Walling and Toby Ellis second and third. In Band Seven, Jessica Loxam and James Stanley topped this group with Eve Clement in third position.

In Band Eight, Nathan Bowman won the group following a fine set against Josh Walling which Bowman won 7-11, 11-8, 11-5. Zoe Grime and Neive Helme also had a three set match won by Grime 11-3 in the third set.

In Band Nine, Rebecca Hyde continued her good form in her first season by winning the group with Genevieve Holchors, Rachel Lister and Olivia Walling taking up the remaining places.
