Table Tennis: Success for Lancaster and Morecambe youngsters in junior tournament

The Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League’s annual junior tournament saw some fierce competition amongst the district’s best up and coming players.

The youngsters did battle in a six groups or Bands with a large field battling it out in the end of season event.

Abinhav Sinha won Band One and took Adam Ordonez’s number one ranking in the process.

Aiden Branch finished second with the surprise result of the night seeing Elliott Bywater take fourth.

Matthew Cross won Band Two following a fine win against favourite Matthew Westworth.

Band Three saw Bradley Wilkinson victorious with a 100 per cent record, with Alex Perfetto second and Toby Illingworth third.

Amir Khan had to hold off strong challenges from Will Walker and Sam Hayward to win Band Four with Walker collecting the under 11 prize for his performances on the night.

Band Five contained the top county under 11 girls and was won by Genevieve Holchacks from Rachel Lister, Eve Clement and Zoe Grime.

Finally Ashton Pinnington played well for his first success at this level of competition to win Band Six following close marches with Bethany Ellis and Matthew Barbury.
