Table Tennis: Bulldogs too good for St Luke’s

Bulldogs trio Phil Goymer, Alan Holt and Chris Lancashire were too strong for newly-promoted St Luke’s C in the Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League.

They lost the first set when David Hewitt won 3-0 for the home team but they stormed back to record a 27-7 victory.

Megan and Alice Dillon were in fine form to lead Garstang B to a 26-13 win away to the Barbarians.

St Luke’s D won at home to Morecambe C with man of the match David Hughes winning his three singles including a nail biting last set against Ken Richardson.

Naomi Collins and Elliott Bywater played well in the doubles finally losing 20-3 to Brian Gourlay and Ian Midgley.

The local derby match between Morecambe A and B teams ended in a predictable narrow win for the A team of Aiden Branch, Matthew Cooke and Nathan Beamer.

Adam Ordenez and Abhinav Sinha won two sets each but could not close the gap as they lost 23-18.
