Successful seaside trip for young swimmers

The Lancaster City Swimming and Water Polo team that took part in the Blackpool competition.

There were 86 personal best times achieved from 114 events, for a 75 per cent success rate.

Young club members Lucy Dalgleish, Daisy Blewitt, Maddie Newby, Joshua Stirzaker, and Olivia Wyeth-Phsick were competing for the first time.

Macy Evans had a great gala, winning two gold medals in the 100m breaststroke and backstroke, together with a bronze in the 100m butterfly.

She also recorded six personal bests.

Imogen Barker achieved a full set of seven personal bests from her events, including taking 25 seconds off her 200m free time.

Nine-year-old Hayden Sole was in fine form, winning a gold and two silvers with five personal bests .

He took 20 seconds off his 100m freestyle time for the gold medal.

Toby Easton won two silver medals in the 50m fly and 100m freestyle with three personal bests in his races to continue his recent good form.

Ten-year-old Anan Clarke took home a silver medal in his 50m breaststroke race to add to five personal bests out of six events.

And 13-year-old Hannah Eaton had a great gala, winning silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Both Lucas Heaton and Will Howard got a full set of four personal bests from their events.

Harry Shaw, 14, had a tremendous competition, winning silver in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 200m backstroke.

Overall he achieved 11 personal bests from 12 events.

Nine-year-old Jasmine Robson swam strongly to take the silver medal in the 200m backstrokewith another three personal bests from her events.

Lucy Dalgleish had a fantastic first gala with six personal bests and three top-10 finishes, including an impressive seven seconds of her 50m fly time.

Jack Collet was never out of the top ten in his four races taking five seconds off his personal best in the 50m fly and 100m IM.

Ten-year-old Daisy Blewitt was particularly impressive in her breaststroke races with strong personal bests and top-10 finishes and Ellie Mae Blewitt swam really well to record three personal bests out of five events.

Joshua Stirzaker, aged nine, had a tremendous set of results for his first  competition with four personal bests and top-10 finishes, taking a massive 12 seconds off his 50m fly time to finish fourth.

Other first timers to gala competition Maddie Newby and Olivia Wyeth–Phsick achieved significant personal best time improvements in all events.

Thirteen-year-old Holly Satterly swam consistently well in all her five races, which included a personal best in the 100m butterfly.

Rhianna Sisson and Connor Sisson had a good competition, as did Paige Robson with a full set of good personal bests from her races.

Rosie Pollit, 11, and 15-year-old Daisy Pollit put in a tremendous effort to achieve three top-class personal bests and some good race results.
