Squash: Vale derby kicks off 2015

Squash returned to the Vale of Lune after the Christmas break with a derby match between the club’s first and second teams.

And the result was a repeat of the season’s first encounter in Div 5 North of the North West Counties Squash League, with table-topping Vale 1 emerging triumphant again over the side currently three spots off the bottom.

Andy Haines at No 1 for Vale 2 lost 3-0 to Jeremy Stopford but was within three points of victory in each game.

John Harker at No2 for Vale 2 showed similar grit, losing 10-15, 11-15, 9-15 to Adam Holtham.

Youngster Max Castaldi displayed his talents to good effect being the only Vale 2 player to take a game.

He went down fighting to Vale’s juniors coach Rob Kitchen 15-12, 12-15, 11-15, 10-15.
