Running: Lancaster and Morecambe athletes have busy Easter weekend

Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club runners enjoyed some racing action over the Easter weekend.

At the popular Caldervale 10-mile road race John Carr was first Lancaster runner with a strong effort of 1h.04.02 over the undulating course, placing him 12th overall out of more than 150 finishers.

John was followed by Paul Tynan in 23rd running well in 1h.07.13 and David Wilkinson 82nd with a good effort of 1h.20.59.

Other finishers were George Parrington 1h.27.20, Mike Codd 1h.30.19, Carole Wilkinson 1h.30.20, Billy Gardner 1h.38.38, Linda Stapleton 1h.46.59 and Janet Codd 1h.54.14.

In the fun run Steve Perry enjoyed a final blast round as a veteran 50 to finish in sixth position with a good time of 29m.15.

The Salford 10k on Good Friday saw some strong performances from a number of Lancaster athletes.

Raymond Edgar stormed round the course to record a personal best time of 32m.44, finishing high up a quality field in 18th position out of 545 runners.

Next was in-form David Brown, earning a personal best with a superb run of 33m.33 and finishing 34th position.

Lee Parrington was next in with an excellent effort of 34m.31, followed by Mark Leadbetter also running a big personal best time of 35m.35 and Mark Holgate also with a great personal best time of 36m.09.
