Steve Thompson came out of retirement to play his first – and last – game of the season at number four but lost 3-0, while James Boswell at three took Vale’s only point of the night, but his 3-1 loss was the only high point.

Team captain Stuart Featon lost 3-0, so it was left to the youthful Max Castaldi to sign off with a win but it was not to be as he plunged to a 3-0 defeat.

However, Vale 2 ended the season third in Division Five North of the North West Counties Squash League.

Vale 1 were away to David Lloyd Chorley 2 but could not field a team and lost 5-0.

Their final fixture of the season is away against Division Three Central North leaders Leyland Leisure 1.
