The Atoms played the Panthers from Accrington in the first game and were right up for this from the kick off.

Stand Off Matty Short scored the opener before debutante winger Sacha Sharples finished in the left hand corner after receiving a well-timed pass from Jordan Proffit.

Proffit then got on the scoresheet himself taking a pass from Gavin Winder again down the left edge.

The blistering opening continued with Kai Davis proving particularly elusive with his extra yard of pace which brought him a clean break and try.

Full back and captain Winder crossed for the fifth Atoms try after a strong charge by loose forward Mike Oldcorn had drawn in three defenders.

Jack Lawton added his fourth conversion for an impressive 28-0 victory against the Division Two outfit.

The Atoms had a 40 minute break before it was their turn to lock horns with the Storm of Southport in the final game of an entertaining afternoon.

Again the Atoms forwards gained control almost immediately from the start coming out of the blocks in determined fashion.

Jack Lawton showed a good pair of heels to score the opener which was soon followed up by hooker Dan Helme who darted over, spotting a gap down the middle of the ruck.

Chris Helme capped a fine performance forcing his way over for the Atoms’ third try and a 16 -0 lead.

Prop Tom O’Brian was also making his debut in Atoms colours and in one drive he got his arms free in the tackle to offload the ball and set the Atoms off on a sweeping attack down the right.

The ball was passed back to the middle and Jason Short picked a great line to go under the posts.

Jamie Cottle scored a fine, breakaway try to round off the Atoms scoring for the afternoon.

The Atoms hadn’t had too much defending to do close to their own line during the two games but the last 10 minutes of this game they were camped at their own end of the pitch.

However, they held out for a 26-0 win.
