Thatto Heath 26-20 Heysham Atoms U14s

Heysham Atoms’ under 14’s travelled to St Helens to take on Thatto Heath, one of the more established clubs in the North West, but were beaten 26-20.

Thatto opened the scoring when they found an enormous gap in the Atoms defence and scored under the posts after only a minute.

From the resulting kick off another large gap appeared on the second tackle and was fully exploited by Thatto, scoring a 60 metre try under the posts.

However, Atoms responded when Kyle Barton barged his way over out wide, bringing the score to 12-4.

A few more unforced errors by the Atoms gave Thatto Heath a lot of possession which resulted in two more tries, making the half time score 22-4

It was Thatto who scored first in the second half but Henry Higginson put Ike Eastwood through a gap to score under the posts which he then converted, making it 22-10.

Simon Cody ran 60 metres to score a great Atoms try which Eastwood converted before Barton barged over for his second try making the score 26-20, but time was running out.

The Atoms had one last chance to score from the kick off.

Thatto kicked off and tackled Ciaran Sutcliffe and the referee blew up.
