'˜Rookie Day' for Morecambe Bay's new American football team

The first practice session for the Morecambe Bay Storm American football club is being held at Salt Ayre Sports Centre next Sunday, February 28, between 2pm and 4pm.

American football enthusiasts at the Morecambe Bay Storms first meeting.

The non-contact trials will be held on an artificial pitch with suitable footwear and clothing required.

The club, the first in the area for non-university students for 25 years, is hoping to build towards entry into a competitive league in 2017.

No previous experience is required for those wanting to attend what the Storm are dubbing ‘Rookie Day’.

Coach Don ‘Scud’ Fairhurst said: “We are fully enthused with the prospect of taking a team of relative novices and turning them in to competitive league team for the 2017 summer season.”
