City of Lancaster Triathlon have their first under 10 national medal winner in Rhys Ashton following a superb run and swim at the National Schools Biathlon Final at the London Aquatics Centre.

Taking bronze, nine-year-old Rhys clocked up the fastest 800m run time in his age group at 2:35.40 and a highly respectable 37:58 for his 50m swim.

Annis Atkinson, 13, also competed, finishing the 100m swim in 1:10.50.

In the boys under 13 competition, Ben Winterburn came in 32nd out of a field of 107 athletes with both strong 100m swim and 1,500m run times.
