Girls and boys do battle for Fairhaven Trophy

Lancaster Golf Club’s Daisy Lee was an emphatic winner of this year’s girls’ Fairhaven Trophy.

The 16-year-old saw off Elizabeth Wilson, her fellow England Girls’ squad member and defending champion, to win by six shots.

Lee began quickly, firing a four-under score of 71 in the opening round, which included a run of eagle, birdie and birdie from the 11th to the 13th holes.

From there, the 16-year-old added rounds of 75, 76 and 75 to finish with a three-under score of 297.

Advice for this year’s AIG Women’s Open hopefuls

That made her the only player in the field to break par across all four rounds.

“I’ve known about this tournament for years and it’s always been a dream to win it, especially as it’s close to home,” said Lee.

“In the final round I spent a lot of time in the trees, but I kept making pars.

“Heading into the week, I just wanted to make the cut because I’d played with a member last week and it didn’t go too well, but I stuck with it.”

The victory ranks among Lee’s strongest results to date, having been the leading under-16 player at the 2025 Flogas Irish Girls’ Championship and runner-up at the 2025 English Girls’ Open Stroke Play Championship.

“It’s more of a relief, really, because my exams are next week,” she added.

“I can focus on those now, then get back to golf afterwards without worrying too much.”

The boys’ event was won by Isaac Oliver, with the Glasson golfer finishing two clear on seven under.
