Coronavirus had left cricket in limbo but, following the recent publication of ECB guidelines, as well as the government’s easing of restrictions on outdoor exercise, the club is taking the first step towards a possible return.

Between Monday and Friday this week, nets will be available to club members only from 5pm-8pm on a pre-booked basis.

The slots are on the hour and consist of 45 minutes of nets and 15 minutes to sanitise and leave the ground.

All players’ names and contact numbers must be provided in the booking request to ensure contact tracing should it be necessary.

Sessions can be booked three days in advance and with a maximum of one slot in any seven days.

Should the follow on session be available on the day, members may also book this as it would not impact on their one-session-per-week allowance.

A club statement said: “Net sessions are open to individuals for use on your own, with members of your household or with one other person from outside your household while keeping two metres apart.

“You must only exercise in groups of no more than two people unless you are exercising exclusively with members of your household.

“A club representative will be present during each session to ensure the guidelines are being met.

“All equipment must be your own, no club equipment can be used nor will the clubhouse be open for use.

“It is your responsibility to use the nets in a responsible manner and in line with current Government guidance for Covid-19.

“If you are symptomatic, living in a household with a possible Covid-19 infection or if you are classified as extremely vulnerable on health grounds you should remain at home and follow Government guidance.

“Our aim is that everyone has the opportunity to use the nets, so please respect our framework that we need to adapt.

“We have put in place limitations for use to see take up over the first week and ease of use under these restrictions.

“We will learn as we go on so bear with us through these initial stages as if successful we will be able to roll out further.”
