New course record in Lancaster and Morecambe’s Three Bridges 10k

Atrocious weather conditions during the Three Bridges 10k didn’t prevent a new course record being set.

Preston Harriers’ Gethin Butler finished in 33 minutes 38 seconds to beat the previous mark by five seconds.

Runner up Russell Maddams from Border Harriers clocked in at 34.09 with Lee Calvert the fastest finisher for Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club in their home race in 39.10 to finish 15th.

In-form Lancaster and Morecambe runner Jayne Perry was second female in 41.46 just 30 seconds behind Allison Daly of Kendal AC.

Third female, Annika Stumpf, 42.32, was one of a large group of DH runners from Carlisle.

Other Lancaster and Morecambe finishers were Gareth Richardson, 40.52, in 28th, Alan Clement, 42.34, David Wilkinson, 46.34, John Riach, 47.30, Christopher Winstanley, 50.09, Ben Dansume, 51.18, Carol Fishwick, 54.15, Liz Hickingbotham, 54.16, Vicky Holgate, 55.56, Dawn McCracken, 56.06, and Ashley Toms, 59.22.

The evergreen Evelyn Elkington was first female veteran 75 in 68.31.
