Stephenson gets road racing season underway in Northern Ireland

Colin Stephenson got his 2015 Road Racing season underway at the Cookstown 100 and Tandragee 100 road races in Northern Ireland.

The traditional season opener on the Orritor circuit at Cookstown was frustrating for the Heysham rider with both his CS Tuning Supersport and Superbike machines sidelined after minor accidents.

However, the Tandragee 100 held last weekend was a much better meeting.

Conditions for practice were near perfect, but gave way to continuous heavy rain on race day.

Colin’s mastery of the treacherous conditions resulted in a fifth place finish in the Supersport race and a remarkable sixth place finish in the main Superbike race, even though he elected to ride his smaller CS Tuning 600 Supersport against the faster and more powerful 1000cc Superbikes.

This starts a busy period for Colin and his family, with the two International Road Races – NW200 and Isle of Man TT – coming up in the next month.
