Morecambe table tennis ace Megan Dillon competed against the best young players in England at the Cadet Masters.

The 15-year-old Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School student was seeded 11th for the event, which brings together the top 12 players in the Table Tennis England Cadet rankings to play against each other on a round-robin basis over the best of five sets.

And although she struggled on the first day, she performed better on the second and ended on a high with a 3-0 victory over Holly Williams as she finished 12th.

She was also edged out in five-setters against seventh seed Jasmin Wong and ninth-ranked Bhavika Mistry.

Dillon said: “I wasn’t expected to win many matches, so I was happy with that last win – it was good to end on a high.

“I played two five-setters on Sunday, I was happy with that.

“I played better on Sunday than Saturday.”

University A have a 12-point lead at the top of the Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League Premier Division with a match in hand on title holders Trimpell Raptors.

St Lukes C and Barbarians are favourites for relegation as University B third from bottom have games in hand.

In the Championship division Morecambe A are well placed with a massive lead over club rivals Morecambe B.

Both team are odds on for promotion providing no slip ups in the remaining matches.
