MORECAMBE boss Jim Bentley has made his second signing of the summer with Andrew Wright signing a two-year deal after being released by League 1 side Scunthorpe.

The 27-year-old midfielder is a former Liverpool junior who spent several years playing in America before joining Scunthorpe in January 2008.

He went on to play close to 100 games for Scunthorpe before being released in the summer.

Wright said he was delighted to be joining the Shrimps and said former players Garry Thompson and Mark Duffy had played their part in making his mind up over the move.

He said: “Garry and Mark had a lot of good things to say about the club and the manager, as did Josh Lillis (son of former assistant manager Mark). When I spoke to Jim I was really impressed with what he had to say and I couldn’t wait to sign.”

Bentley said: “We will be going with a smaller squad this season so I have to look to bring in some players who can play in a number of positions and this one certainly fits the bill.

“He’s got good experience, is a good age and an individual that comes highly recommended. I am looking at him mainly to play the holding midfield role but he has played in several other positions and will be a valuable addition to the side.”
