Morecambe’s top punching prospect has got his big break.
Isaac Lowe will fight for the vacant English featherweight title in Blackburn on April 4.
The unbeaten Westgate Warrior, 9-0, will take on Tipton’s Lee Glover after the British Boxing Board of Control sanctioned a request for the fight from Lowe’s promoter Steve Wood of VIP Promotions.
Trainer Bob Howard, who has worked with Lowe since his amateur days, said: “This is what we’ve been working towards.
“He’s worked hard and has got all the ability and heart you need.
“This is just the start for him. It looks like being a big few months.”
The contest will represent a major step up for the 21-year-old former Lancaster Boxing Academy fighter as he fights for his first professional belt.
At 27, Glover, 9-2, has the experience edge having tasted defeat twice against Jon Kays for the super featherweight version of the title and Choi Tseveenpurev in a Prizefighter tournament.
Lowe, a good friend of Tyson Fury, last fought with a four-round points win over Simas Volosinas in November.
