Visiting captain David Makinson won the toss and chose to bat first, and it proved to be a very good decision as the hosts racked up a total of 215-6 from their 50 overs.

However, Morecambe did get off to a superb start when Luke Jongwe (1-46) removed opener Ian Farrington (1) with the help of wicketkeeper Reuben Orr with the score at 1-1.

Jamie Cassidy (3-77) then made it 17-2 when Tom Reece (6) was caught by Stefan Dixon, but in came Henry Thompson (41), and along with Umar Waheed (47) they took the score to 92.

Waheed eventually fell when he was bowled by Daniel Edwards ( 1-50) and although he stuck around for a bit longer, Thompson was also out when he was caught by Jongwe off Dixon with the score now on 130-4.

In came Andrew Makinson (11no) and along with Ross Bretherton (65) they increased the run rate until the former was bowled by Cassidy to make it 170-5.

The final wicket to fall was Bretherton who was caught by captain Ryan Pearson off Cassidy as Leyland finished on 215-6, Karl Cross (21n0) and Jake Peake (14no) remaining unbeaten at the crease.

Morecambe made a decent start to their reply, reaching 23 before Luke Pearson (15) was out LBW to Bretherton (3-36).

Peter Deeks (20) was next to go, Karl Cross (2-26) taking the wicket LBW, to leave the visitors on 37-2, bringing Cassidy to the crease.

He was caught and bowled by Cross after scoring just three runs with score at 51-3, but in came captain Ryan Pearson and between him and Jongwe they settled things down.

Jongwe (34) was eventually out when he was caught by Alex Williams off Bretherton, while Alex Briggs could only muster a knock of 10 before being caught by Makinson off Bretherton once mor to make it 145-5.
Orr reached double figures for Morecambe but after reaching 12 he was caught by Williams off the bowling of Andrew Jacques (2-40) as Lancaster were reduced to 176-6.
