In the only Division One game to beat the weather, Shireshead picked up a winning draw against Ambleside in a 28-overs-a-side match.
Ambleside won the all important toss and inevitably invited Shireshead to bat first.
Liam Parkinson made a bristling 20, but broadly speaking the batsmen were kept in check until the arrival of Danny Wilkinson at the crease.
Wilkinson (55 off 34 balls) was at his belligerent best as he struck four fours and four sixes in a powerful innings, well supported by Nick Rafferty, that enabled Shireshead to post a healthy 147-8.
The Ambleside reply began aggressively as the opening batsmen attempted to take on James Rafferty in an interesting dual, but when Peter Wilson (4-6) took three wickets in one over all thoughts of victory disappeared.
It became a case of whether the Shireshead bowlers could pick up the remaining wickets required from the reduced number of overs, and it was not to be, although the fall of the seventh wicket ensured one valuable bonus point and a winning draw as the innings closed at 81-7.
