Carnforth secured promotion to the Raging Bull North West League Division Three on Saturday with a 59-24 win away at Upper Eden 2nds.
Carnforth made a great start when flanker Brad Wheatman took the ball from Jason Short to score the game’s opening try, Mathew Short converted.
However, back came Eden and their lively scrum half outfoxed the defence to score but in a frantic opening it was Wheatman who set up Jack Edmondson for his first try of the day, Short adding the extra two.
A third try soon followed with Nick Hamer, Dave Hones and Jason Short linking up to allow Mathew Short to power over the line - he added the two points for a 21 - 5 lead.
Eden hit back again with a well worked try in the corner but Graham Rich and Mathew Short again linked to allow Edmondson to sprint away for his second try with an outstretched arm needed to score.
Sam Barlow made an immediate impact after coming on when he made the initial break to allow Joe Harrison to burst over the try line with five minutes left in the half, Short converting.
Eden responded with their third try, the home prop made a superb chip kick ahead and as Carnforth stood still the scrum half again scored with the conversion was added to make it 17 - 33 at half time.
Within minutes of the restart Carnforth went further in front however.
Mathew Short made a superb run from full back and looked certain to score but a last ditch tackle thwarted him but the supporting Hones was on hand to take the pass and score.
Eden then capatalised on a Carnforth mix up as their prop was able to pounce out wide, the conversion was well struck from the touchline but Edmondson then completed his hat-trick after being put through by Hamer, Short converting.
Moments later and Edmondson grabbed try number four of the day as Carnforth went past the half century, Short again converting.
With 10 minutes to go Sam Tomlinson added the final score under the posts, Short adding the two to round off a 59 - 24 victory.
