Table Tennis: Trimpell City up and running with first victory of 2018

Trimpell City recorded their first win of 2018 against the University A side in the Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League.

Dave Smith led the charge for City in a flashback to former glory days, taking the man of the match award and nine points.

Also for City, Graeme Moorby was on five points with Danny Welbourne taking three.

There was an easy doubles win for the Trimpell duo of Smith and Moorby, taking City to a 20-14 win on the night.

For Uni A Wilson Lai and Abdulla Rehman took seven points each with Katalin Kabai struggling to find any form.

St Luke’s C were treated to a rare appearance from Raptors’ team captain Carl Stebbing, who went on to maintain his current 100 per cent match win record by taking all nine points and retaining top spot in the Raptors’ player stats.

Toby Ellis and Dave Gott also shared the man of the match spoils, also taking nine points each with Raptors winning 30-0 following an uncomplicated 3-0 win in the doubles.
The only other match in the Premier Division this week was St Luke’s A against St Luke’s B.

Chris Knowles won the man of the match award with nine points, ably assisted by John Howarth also with nine and Dave Hewitt playing up from St Luke’s C taking eight.

For the St Luke’s B side Martin Wakelin and Tony March’s form seems to remain inconsistent, taking three points and two points respectively with Mike Gregory 
taking five.
