Vale 1’s unbeaten duo, Jeremy Stopford and Adam Holtham maintained their unblemished record this season with victories over tough opponents in the match at Blackpool Cricket Club 4.

Shaun Gorry at number four won 3-1 and Stuart Featon at number five continued his impressive run of form, winning 3-0.

But the toughest contest of the night saw Dave Jewitt at number three go down fighting.

After losing the first game 15-12, Dave took the next two. But game four went to 19-17 in favour of the Blackpool player.

In the decider, Dave battled hard but lost 15-12.

The 4-1 team victory saw Vale maintain their lead in Division Five North of the North West Counties Squash League.

With 310 points, they are well clear of Preston Grasshoppers 6 in second place with just a handful of matches remaining.

Vale 2 had a night off with no game scheduled.

They remain in 12th out of 13 in the league and take on mid-table St Annes 3 on Thurday, February 12.
