Dave Metcalfe’s Streaker dinghy lived up to its name for the third week running taking first place in all three Morecambe Sailing Club races on Sunday, July 6.

For the first two races he edged ahead of David Edward and Dyane Silvester in their Vago and for the third race came home just ahead of John Hodgson in his Solo.

Tony Rackham brought up third place in a Laser for races 1 and 2 with Nigel Broadbent in a Solo third in race 3.

Conditions on Morecambe Bay were good with a generally steady but sometimes gusty force 3-4 westerly wind.

Officer for the day was Phil Preston with Lynn Ison in charge of the safety boat.

The previous week, June 29. Metcalfe was on winning form in the first race sailing in Streaker, closely followed by Edwards and Silvester in their Vago, with Tyrone Lewis in a Laser coming in third.

For the second race light winds worked to the advantage of the lightweight specialist racing dinghies with large sails seeing Mark Fearnley of South Windermere Sailing Club first in his Blaze leading over David and Dyane’s Vago, leaving Metcalfe in his more traditional Streaker to bring up third place.
