Lancaster through British Championship semis

LANCASTER City have successfully qualified for the last four of the British Championship after an intense qualification round.

Their first game was against current Scottish Champions Portobello and despite conceding an early goal from Nielson Rutherford, they were soon in control thanks to four goals from Tom Curwen.

Lancaster continued to press ahead and by half–time had established a comfortable 9-4 advantage.

The third period saw more impact from the ever–improving ranks of Lancaster juniors with two goals from Declan Ellwood and a debut goal for Matthew Grieve.

The final period was more low key as the sides exchanged goals and Lancaster ran out eventual 18-11 winners.

Final quarter goal scorers included James Wannop who finished with a personal tally of five goals.

On the Sunday Lancaster faced the tough prospect of playing two games in five hours.
