Lancaster Cricket Club have announced their new professional for the 2016 season.
Indian batsman Abhimanyu Khod will the paid man at Lune Road this season, replacing Pakistani opener Rameez Raja who demonstrated his explosive talents at the top of the order last season.
Khod, 24, plays his domestic cricket alongside Indian great Virender Sehwag for Haryana.
Captain Ben Simm is looking forward to the promising left-hander displaying his talents at Lune Road.
The off-spinner, who sits on 499 league wickets heading into the 2016 season, said: “He hasn’t played a great deal of first-class cricket but he’s a talented Indian player coming through.
“Chances are more limited over there because of the volume of players they’ve got.
“He’s young and keen to do well and progress.
“He’s a real stroke maker who bowls a bit of seam. Hopefully he can chip in in that department but he’s here as a batsman and strikes a clean ball.”
Simm says the signing of Khod has been made with an eye on the future.
He said: “He’s not got the same got pedigree as Rameez who had played international cricket but hopefully he can come here and help us win a few games.
“He’s a bit younger and we’re hoping he can maybe come over here for a few years and it not just be a one or two year thing.
“Hopefully we can have a bit of consistency.”
