Lancaster captain Ben Simm knows his side need everything to go their way to win the Northern League title.

The Lune Road outfit crashed to defeat against Kendal on Saturday after being bowled out for 66 and are now 31 points behind top side Barrow in third.

Simm said: “It’s put us in a position where we need things to go our way.

“But if we can win five out of five with one game against Barrow you never know.

“We’ve definitely left ourselves with a lot to do though.”

Former Lancaster sub professional Pieter Malan did the damage with the ball for Kendal in the visitors’ six-wicket win.

Simm said: “He had it swinging quite a long way and bowled really well but it’s disappointing to be bowled out for that score.

“To be fair to us we haven’t had any losses like that this year and it’s always going to happen at some point.”

The five-game run-in starts with an ideal opportunity for Simm’s side to hit back, a local derby against Morecambe.

The skipper admits it is a game they need little motivation for.

He said: “We probably didn’t have the same intensity as we have done in recent weeks on Saturday but I’m sure we will this weekend.

“It’s the perfect chance to bounce back.”

The derby clash at Woodhill Lane starts at 1pm.

Morecambe played out a losing draw at Darwen on Saturday.
