After seeing last weekend washed out Lancaster have a double header of action at Lune Road.

Last year’s Northern League Champions Fleetwood are the visitors on Saturday before Lancashire Colts make the journey up the following day.

Lancaster have started the season with two defeats, a winning draw on the opening day at Darwen as well as last Saturday’s abandoned trip to Blackpool.

Captain Ben Simm is hopeful his side can kick start their campaign with a decent points haul this weekend, the Fylde coast title-winners having struggled to recapture last season’s form thus far.

He said“We’ve not had a bad start to the season, but not a great one either.

“Already we’ve shown promise with a good bowling effort at Darwen and a solid batting display against Netherfield, but it’s vital we build on them and start converting them into positive results.

“This is a very important period for us with five games in nine days so two wins this weekend would really get our season started properly.

“With a bit more luck and some good all-round team performances it could be a fruitful couple of weeks.”

The Lune Road side could have Pakistan professional Jannisar Khan available for the first time this weekend.

He has been unable to join up with the team due to visa issues.

South African Pieter Malan, who deputised in the first two games of the season, scoring one century, is on standby. Simm said: “We’re told it could be any day now, he’ll definitely be available the following weekend.

“We really need him now as we move up to three games a week with the Twenty 20.”
