Lancaster Cricket Club captain Ben Simm wants to turn Lune Road into a fortress this season.
After a free week in their schedule the city side play their first home game of the new Northern Premier League season against Fleetwood on Saturday.
Simm’s men will be looking to back up a fine opening day win over Kendal as they look to put a disappointing 2014 behind them.
He said: “It’s always great to get to that first home game and you want to start with a win.
“We want to lay a marker down and make sure we build it (Lune Road) up as somewhere we can be successful this season.
“We know how good a side Fleetwood are and it will be a tough game but we’re hoping to put in a performance like we did at Kendal.”
It’s a busy weekend in the Northern League calendar with sides then in action again on bank holiday Monday.
Lancaster travel to Leyland knowing two good performances will hand them an excellent start the season.
Simm said: “When you miss a week early doors you want to make that game up as soon as possible.
“It would be great if we can get another win and then maybe a winning draw.
“But obviously we’ll be going for two more wins which would be fantastic.
“It would certainly put us in a great position for the rest of the season.”
Lancaster will be without Sam Moorby who has returned to university.
