Lancaster Cricket Club couldn’t have asked for a better start to their season on Saturday.
Ben Simm’s side were 111-run winners over Kendal in the Northern Premier League Division One thanks to a fine all-round display.
The only frustration for the Lune Road men is that they are now without a competitive game this Saturday on their free weekend.
Simm said: “We’re desperate to keep the momentum going.
“We’ve got a friendly against Sedbergh School so we’re not going to just sit idle for a week.
“We’re going to train as hard as we did in pre-season and the weather forecast doesn’t look too good so things might even work in our favour.”
The win at Shap Road saw plenty of players chip in with ball and ball, something which pleased the skipper.
Simm said: “We didn’t get the best of starts losing some early wickets.
“But we recovered well and everything went pretty swimmingly from there.
“We bat right down to 11 and then we just blew them away with the ball.
“I’m thrilled to be honest, it’s the perfect start.”
It was a good day of senior cricket at Lune Road on Saturday with the second team completing a double over Kendal.
Simm said: “The seconds got a good win as well so it was good to get a clean sweep.
“There’s a good feeling around the club at the moment.”
