Kirkby Lonsdale saw off Widnes 46-12 at Underley Park in North One West on Saturday.
Hooker Dan Armistead scored Kirkby’s first try under the posts, with Tom Pickthall converting before Dave Barton cantered over for the second try, Pickthall again tapping over the conversion.
A penalty by Pickthall extended the lead to 17-0 and moments later as Widnes infringed again he was on target to make it 20-0.
In the second half Sam Latu intercepted a Widnes pass on the halfway line and outpaced the cover to score the third Kirkby try under the posts.
Pickthall added the extras before Sheldon Johnson scored by the corner flag for Widnes.
Stuart Storey then burst through a couple of tackles to score a memorable bonus try, Pickthall slotted the conversion to extend Kirkby’s lead to 34-5.
Glover scored under the posts for Widnes’s second try, the same player converting to advance the score to 34-12.
With around 15 minutes to play a Widnes hand deliberately slapped away a scoring pass and the referee awarded a penalty try, Pickthall converting, before Sam Chesney-Benson ran through to give Kirkby their sixth try of the game.
