Lancaster 1s slipped to defeat in their derby match against Preston’s Springfields 1s on Saturday.
The visitors were looking to build on their opening day win over Brooklands Poynton but were no match for their rivals on the day.
Springfields were determined to stop Lancaster making it back-to-back victories to start the new season and started the game positively winning a number of short corners early on.
Grace Robertson and Nicola Benson defended well however, using their experience from the previous friendly against Springfields.
Goalkeeper Leighan Bleasdale was called into action a number of times and was forced to make several fine saves.
The hosts however scored twice in the first half, one from a lifted shot through a crowded D and another from a deflected short corner routine.
Due to lapses in concentration and giving away possession far too easily, Bleasdale found herself having to deal with a number of one-on-one situations and inevitably Springfields scored two more after the interval.
The Lancaster attacking line did not give up, Robertson crossing the ball to Ali Standeven who smashed it into the goal leaving the final score 4-1.
Although the taste of defeat hurt the newly formed first team will try and learn the lessons from the game going forward.
