Galgate’s Janice Gower was knocked out in the semi-finals of the mixed pairs at the World Indoor Bowls Championships on Sunday afternoon.

The England international and partner Greg Harlow lost 2-1 (8-7, 6-7, 2-1) to the team of Andy Thomson and Katherine Rednall in the last four at Potters Leisure, Great Yarmouth.

The duo had won 2-0 (10-4, 9-3) against the team of Darren Burnett and Karen Murphy in the quarter finals on Friday night.

The Lancaster bowler didn’t fare as well in the ladies singles however but put up a fantastic effort in defeat against Julie Forrest on Saturday afternoon’s quarter-finals.

The first set was a close run affair with the Scot producing a full house to snatch the lead from Gower.

She impressed again in set two, but Forrest finished strongly to seal a 8-7, 10-9 victory.

The final stages of the event are live on BBC television from Monday.
