Westhoughton’s Hart Common Golf Club grabbed the glory in the PGA Lancs Morecambe pro-am as professional Steve Parry won the individual prize with a one-over-par 68.
His clubmate Kevin Parry also led his team to victory on Friday, July 4, as the Bolton club enjoyed a double success.
Scoring was never going to be low as the rain lashed down all day but everyone battled through and the course stood up well to the elements.
Bolton Old Links assistant Colin Maroney was a shot behind Parry with Chorley’s Mark Bradley and Dave Smith, from Swinton Park, sharing third place on 71.
Home professional Simon Fletcher carded a 10 over par round for 12th position.
After the opening PGA Lancs pro-am in Lancaster was won by Gary Wolstenholme seven days earlier, the next event in the district takes place at Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club this Friday, July 11. Elsewhere, Heysham professional Jack Senior finished tied for 61st at the Challenge Tour’s Aegean Airlines event at the Hartl Resort, Bad Griesbach, Germany, at the weekend.
After a promising opening round ended in a two under par 70, rounds of 74, 73 and 78 saw him finish on seven over par.
