Dave Chisnall reached the second round of the European Darts Open in Dusseldorf at the weekend.
The Morecambe ace, runner up in last year’s event, bowed out 6-3 to Jamie Caven on Saturday having won his opening round game 6-1 against Chris Aubrey on Friday.
Chizzy and Caven shared the opening four legs, with the Derby man opening the match with a 13-darter which included a 177 before Chisnall hit 180s in both winning legs.
But the man know as “Jabba” took command mid-game.
He won the fifth leg on tops and then broke in the next after landing a maximum, before defying a 180 from Chisnall to take out 60 for a 14-darter and move 5-2 up.
Chisnall landed tops in reply and then hit a 180 in the ninth leg, but two misses at double 18 allowed Caven in to secure the win on tops.
Caven defeated Mervyn King 6-5 in round three before seeing off Kim Huybrechts 6-3 in the quarter finals.
His run was ended 6-4 by Simon Whitlock in the semi-finals but it was Michael Van Gerwen who came out on top in Germany.
The Dutchman continued his sensational winning streak, winning his eighth tournament of a fantastic year, defeating Whitlock 6-2 in Sunday night’s final of the £100,000 European Tour event.
