Westgate completed a famous win over Haverigg at Cross Hill Park to move into the quarter-finals of the County Cup.
Andy Hill’s side bowled out the North Lancashire and Cumbria League side for 166, S Patel and Morecambe goalkeeper Andreas Arestidou each taking four wickets.
The skipper then led from the front, making 92 from 116 balls with 11 fours as his side won by six wickets.
An early Westgate breakthrough had brought professional Sachithra Serasinghe to the crease.
Looking a class above, the Sri Lankan made 81 before falling to Arestidou caught on the boundary when he looked certain to reach three figures.
That allowed the hosts to keep things tight in the final overs with the last five wickets yielding just 18 runs.
It was still a good score for the favourites on the day and with Westgate faltering on 44-3 in the 10th over they were well in command with Simon Bickerstaffe (2-25) doing the early damage.
Hill was joined by youngster C Buchanan (32 not out) however and the pair added 118 in 26 overs to swing the game Westgate’s way.
The captain eventually fell with just five needed from the final five overs.
His side were able to comfortably complete a famous victory in the 37th over and will hope to host another big side in the last eight.
