TOM Boardman is set to take the wheel again this weekend for the start of the UK’s premier motor racing series – the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Lancashire based Boardman and team Special Tuning Racing head to Brands Hatch for their second season in the contest, having entered for the first time in 2010.
In its maiden season the team showed real grit and determination with an underpowered car, with Boardman unlucky not to have secured a podium finish having twice led races and achieving four top-six finishes.
The team will continue to race the SEAT Leon TFSi, but will run a 2.0 litre turbo-charged engine built to the BTCC’s new Next Generation Touring Car technical regulations.
John Boardman, STR team principal, said: “We are taking the 2011 season very seriously.
“The team has its sights firmly set on winning the Independents title.”
