LANCASTER moved up to third after a thrilling last over victory by four runs against Fleetwood at Lune Road.
David Heywood held on to a stunning slip catch to dismiss Sam Bell off Tim Barry with two balls remaining as the visitors’ professional Ryan Smith was left becalmed on an unbeaten 59 at the non-striker’s end.
Lancaster captain Michael Stevens (59 off 113 balls) and Zac Godfrey-Pews (35) posted an opening stand of 77 and Barry made a superb 59 off 67 balls in the home side’s 177/7, Joe Bell taking 4 for 49.
Barry then collected 5 for 35 to complete a fine all-round performance and with Iain Perrieman supporting him with 4 for 57 the visitors fell just short in a tense finale.
