IT WAS Ladies’ Day at Birch Hall as Darwen, celebrating their Centenary season, staged a highly successful fund-raising event in aid of cancer charities.

Visitors Lancaster reached 177-6 with openers Michael Stevens and Zac Godfrey-Plews starting the innings well, posting 73 for the first wicket.
Lee Sparks hit an unbeaten 41 off 33 balls with Kamran Anwar running out pro DwayneHees for 11.
Darwen’s Alex Davies hit 55 off 82 balls to help his side recover from the early loss of opener Niall Burke and pro Zimmy Khan to Iain Perrieman.
Skipper John Cordingley hit an unbeaten 31 and steered his side home in partnership with elder brother Gareth who was 15 not out at the close.
Middle brother Neil and Chris Clarke both added 25 to the score.
Stevens finished with figures of 2-13 as he continued his fine form with both bat and ball.
n Lancaster’s 2nd team hosted their Darwen counterparts at Lune Road in the Second Division of the Northern League.
Andrew Cook destroyed Lancaster’s batting line-up at Lune Road, taking 7-14 to set up a 15-points win for Darwen.
Earlier Scott Jackson (83) was one of three visiting batsmen to post half-centuries.
Danny Fradd (58) and Sam Chatburn-Jones (50) also making good scores as Darwen posted a very impressive 234-4.
Cook’s performance with the ball meant the home side could only post 70 in reply, losing by an emphatic 164 runs.
