Magnificent Metcalfe Streaks clear in challenging conditions

Strong winds and rough seas made for challenging conditions which saw Dave Metcalfe in his Streaker dinghy a three-time winner at Morecambe Sailing Club's meeting on Sunday.

It was a story of three Streakers with Metcalfe leading the way home in all three races.

In the first race he narrowly beat Dave Edwards, also in a Streaker, leaving a third Streaker helmed by Dyane Silvester to pick up third place.

In spite of an early capsize in the second race, Dave Metcalfe managed to make up lost ground, eventually overtaking the other two Streakers to earn first place.

Metcalfe also took a narrow victory in the third race.

The last two races also saw Edwards finish second and Dyane Silvester third.

Officer of the day was Jo Whiteley with the safety boat helmed by Nick Whiteley.

The previous day saw the club hold the first of its new Super Saturdays, informal meetings enabling members at all levels to try different craft and generally develop skills outside a racing environment nicely finished off with pie and peas.
