Liam denied victory but still claims podium finish

Eighteen year old Liam Murphy was in action at the Castle Combe race circuit in Wiltshire recently, racing in the BRSCC Mazda MX5 Supercup Championship.

In the third round of the season Liam qualified in third position from the field of 29 cars.

In race one Liam did not get the best of starts as he was left spinning the wheels on the start line, he dropped down to 12th place and then set about making up as many places as possible, eventually climbing back up to sixth
place.

In race two Liam got a better start and gained a place into the first corner, he then followed the four cars in front for a couple of laps until he saw an opportunity to pass three cars in one move and got into second place.

He then set off after the leading car and within three laps found a way through into the lead, he held the lead for three laps until the car behind got a tow down the long straight and managed to pass Liam with two laps to
go. Liam eventually finished on the podium in second place just over a tenth of a second behind the winner and recorded his best finish of the season up to now.

Liam is now fourth in the championship standings with the next round at Snetterton in Norfolk at the end of June where he will be hoping to go one place better and get on the top step on the
podium.

Liam is looking for any support from potential sponsors and local businesses who would like to help him try and win the championship in
2015.

Their name would be displayed on his car, with a very good chance of some television coverage, national magazines and race programmes, if anyone is interested in supporting a young up and coming local
driver.
