Lancaster youngsters lead the way in North West Championship

Youngsters from City of Lancaster Triathon Club are leading the way in the North West Junior Triathlon Championship.

Shea Hannam, 14, has taken wins at the Crosby, Cockermouth, Salt Ayre and the Wirral junior triathlons over the past few weeks placing him in a strong position for the championship title.

Ruby Frankland, 13, has been victorious at Cockermouth and the Wirral in Tristar 3 girls to put her in strong contention and Sasha Oldham, 11, has continued her superb form on the bike to build on her Blackpool success with wins at Cockermouth and the Wirral.

Larissa Hannam is close on her heels with a fantastic win at Crosby and solid podium performances at Salt Ayre, Cockermouth and the Wirral to deliver a strong COLT bid for two of the podium places in the Tristar 2 girls championship.

Rhys Ashton, 11, continues to push his main rival from Arragons hard with consistent second places at Salt Ayre and the Wirral and eight-year-old Ronan Maher has taken a win in Tristart at Cockermouth.

COLTs pushing hard for contention include 14-year-old Hannah Edwards who took third place at Salt Ayre and 13-year-old Lydia Shenton who has been solid throughout the season and bagged third at Cockermouth.

Harry Shaw, 13, is also improving rapidly and 14-year-old Ben Winterburn is leading the way in the swim for Tristar 3 boys.

In the North West Biathle series COLTs are also leading the way.

Jack Collett, Kirsty Maher, Tim Woodman, Isabelle Woodman, Larissa Hannam and Shea Hannam all took first places at the Carnforth event and at the GB event at Cheltenham, Shea and Georgia Hannam took first places.

In the North West Biathle Series race three at York, ‘The Battle of the Roses’, nine-year-old Kirsty Maher and 14-year-old Shea Hannam took top spots.

Also taking podium positions at several of the North West and GB Biathle meets are Will Howard, Ben Winterburn, Jack Collet, Amelie Earnshaw, George Wilby, Lydia Shenton and Anan Tiger Clarke.
