Lancaster juniors win medals in first meet of season

Ten junior City of Lancaster Triathlon athletes turned out in atrocious conditions for the first North West Biathle Series race of the year in Fleetwood.

Biathle, a continuous run-swim run competition, can be very demanding as there is a battle to be one of the first to enter the pool to gain an advantage with the swim leg is not swum in lanes.

This was the first Biathle for many COLT juniors, but they were certainly not deterred by nerves or the weather.

Taking gold in their respective age groups where Kirsty Maher, nine, Tim Woodman, 11, and Isabelle Woodman, 13.

Silver medals were awarded to nine-year-olds Jack Collet and Zara Wilson, Lydia Shenton, 13 and Ben Winterburn, 14.

Madison Craven, 11, Archie Honeysett, nine, and Thomas Dowthwaite, 11, all won bronze medals.
