The under 16s team of Megan and Alice Dillon, Sruthi Rajakarier, Naomi Collins and Aakanskha Tripathi won the national title in 2015 and have won through to this year’s finals in Hinckley, Leicestershire, on Saturday in what is the 50th year of the competition.

Having become Lancashire champions in Blackburn back in November the girls returned to the East Lancashire town in January for the ‘zone’ finals.

Teams came from all over Lancashire, including Widnes’ Wade Deacon High School and West Kirkby Grammar School, but the team again prevailed to move into the regional finals at the end of Match.

They came up against two other teams in this round, St Mary’s College, Hull, and Copleston High School, Ipswich, winning through to set up Saturday’s grand finale in Leicestershire.

LGGS will take on three other teams from West London, Devon and Wirral.

Alice Dillon has also recently qualified to play in the under 15s national championships where the top 16 players in England will do battle on Sunday, May 1.
