Lancaster cyclist makes step up to national stage

A Lancaster cyclist is enjoying success on the national stage.

Julian Pearson, formerly of Lancaster Cycling Club, is this year riding for Manchester-based Team Moda-Anon.

Pearson, who works for engineering firm R.G. Parkins & Partners Ltd in the city, won a round of the National Track Endurance League at Quibell Park in Lincolnshire on bank holiday Monday.

On Sunday, April 26, he also rode in the biggest one-day road event in Britain, the Rutland Melton Classic, a UCI rated international with European teams competing.

The Lancaster rider was in thick of the action for the 90 miles in support of his team leader.

District professionals Bolton-le-Sands’ Jack Pullar and Lancaster’s James Gullen also took part in the race for their Velosure Starley Primal Pro Cycling team.

Pearson was also a winner in the latest round of Edge Cycle Works Salt Ayre Series on Tuesday night breaking away for a solo win in the E12 race.

The Team Moda-Anon rider finished ahead of Steve Abbott who won a sprint from Luke Mullen and Ben Harrison.

Lune RCC’s Andy Markham won the 34 category race.
