Lancaster captain Ben Simm won the toss and chose to put his team into bat first, and his side went on to post an excellent total of 257-8.

Opener Sandy Richards managed a knock of 18 before being caught by Ben Pye off the bowling of Thomas Beeden (3-63), who also removed fellow opener Scott Sparks for a duck.

Charlie Swarbrick really made an impact with his introduction though, his knock of 74 was the stand out innings for the home side, although he too eventually fell, Jack Heap (3-70) taking the wicket with the help of Andy Butler.

Kieran Moffat reached 27 before being caught by Jack Bolland off Heap once more, while Laurie Atkinson (10) just about managed double figures but Bolland caught him too, Daniel Woods (1-66) taking the wicket.

Samuel Moorby (45no) put in an impressive performance, coming up just short of his half century, although Brendan Hetherington could only manage a knock of four before being caught by Nigel Beeden off Heap.

Captain Simm helped the innings along, he recorded a knock of 20 but was then bowled by Thomas Beeden, and tailender Lee Sparks also did his bit with the bat, although he was caught and bowled by Liam Pemberton (1-51) for 24.

James Davies was the other Lancaster batsman to remain unbeaten at the crease, finishing on 18 not out, as the hosts recorded an impressive 257-8 from their 45 overs.

Torrisholme’s reply never really got going, with only two batsmen reaching double figures.

Skipper Woods managed a knock of 16 before falling LBW to Swarbrick (3-22), while Andy Butler (0) was caught by Moorby off Liam Moffat (2-28).

Moffat struck again to remove Heap (21), with brother Kieran taking the catch, and Swarbrick took his second wicket of the day when he got rid of Bryson Little (9) with Lee Sparks’ help in the field.

Lancaster captain Simm (5-10) also got in on the act, taking the wicket of Bryson Little (9), Swarbrick catching, and Swarbrick then took another wicket himself, removing Joseph Wills (0) LBW.

Nigel Beeden also came and went without scoring, Simm striking with Moorby catching, and Jack Bolland did the same, Simm again taking the wicket while Kieran Moffat took the catch.

Simm finished things off the home side, the spinner got rid of Thomas Beeden (3) with the help of Laurie Atkinson, and then Ben Pye (4), Moorby again taking the catch, as Torrisholme were bowled out for just 63.
