Lancaster City boss has high hopes as old boy returns to Giant Axe
Lancaster City bring back a familiar face to Giant Axe.
Jimmy Marshall was thrilled after Lancaster City brought back Kyle Brownhill to Giant Axe last week.
The 31-year-old rejoined the club from Stalybridge Celtic, making his second debut for the Dolly Blues in last weekend’s loss to Leek Town.
Speaking after the deal was confirmed, the Lancaster boss said: “I am absolutely thrilled to bring a player of Kyle’s calibre back to the club. He’s a top player and a leader who will drive standards.
“I know he was hugely popular last time he was at the club - and rightly so - and I am sure he will only go on and enhance that popularity in this spell with us.
“Having spoken to players who are currently with us, who played with him in his last spell, it’s been nothing but glowing references and I am really excited to work with him.
“It’s a huge signing for the football club which shows our ambition to keep improving and pushing forward."
Brownhill who last played for the Dolly Blues back in 2024 made 111 appearances for Stalybridge over three seasons, and picked up August and September’s Stalybridge Celtic Supporters Club player of the month awards.
In his last spell with Lancaster, the left-back made 86 appearances and scored four goals during the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.
As well as becoming a popular figure with the Lancaster supporters for his performances, he was also named as the chairman’s player of the year in his final season with the club.
