Lancaster beaten by Workington in ECB National Club Championship opener

Lancaster were beaten by Workington in their opening ECB National Club Championship game, losing by eight wickets at Lune Road on Sunday.

Batting first, Lancaster were bowled out for 132, with Charlie Swarbrick the star man as his knock of 53 at least helped accelerate the run rate.

Laurie Atkinson (19) and Lee Sparks (14) also reached double figures, while Faizan Khan (12) played his part.

However, Workington reached their target with relative ease as openers Kristian Moffat (56) and Robbie Lambert (50) took the game away from Lancaster.

Liam Hazzard (20) also contributed for the away side, although Adam Chambers failed to get off the mark when he was bowled by Ben Simm (2-18).

Simm also took the wicket of Moffat, Khan taking the catch, but Workington were able to win in 30.3 overs.
