A City of Lancaster Triathlon athlete starred for Great Britain at the European Junior Championships in Austria.
Sarah Hodgson, 18, won a bronze medal in the Mixed Relay Team event but also delivered a superb performance in the individual competition as the second Brit to cross the finishing line.
Sixty-two athletes from 22 countries took part in the championships at the ski resort of Kitzbuhel.
In the individual competition, a small group of swimmers quickly made their mark exiting the water from the 750m swim to form a group of 10 riders on the bike section of the event.
A group formed behind including Hodgson but despite sitting at the front of the group trying to reel in the breakaway she made little impression on the lead group over the 20k bike course.
Nevertheless, the Leeds University student quickly started to work her way through the field on the final discipline and with the sixth fastest run finished 11th overall.
The result meant Hodgson was selected to form part of the relay team made up of two junior men and two junior women racing two days later.
Setting off on the first leg the Lancaster athlete completed the 200m swim and made it onto the front bike group.
With riders trying to break away on every corner of the 8k course Hodgson stayed with the bunch before working hard to gain positions on the 2K run when she handed over to the second athlete.
The positions ebbed and flowed but in an exciting finish the GB team held off the Russians to take the bronze medal behind the excellent German and French Teams.
